  1. Thanks for helping me find out what this turkey-ass-duck really is.

    1. You're quite welcome! I don't think they're part-donkey, though.

  2. I am writing a paper on the depiction of Muscovy ducks in the art of the Moche culture of ancient Peru (200–800 C.E.). Would it be possible for me to include your Muscovy image (the third one) in my paper? I would cite you, of course. I am also very interested in the possible Muscovy/Mallard hybrid in your Oct 21, 2015 blog. I am discussing the possibility of hybrids to explain some puzzling aspects of the depictions. If this is OK, I would be happy to send you a copy of the paper.

    1. Hi Don, sorry I didn't see this earlier. Your work sounds quite interesting. Feel free to include the image, and I would love to see a copy of the paper!

About the other photos you mention, I am not sure whether the duck is really a hybrid. I posted photos of the same individual on iNaturalist and they were identified as Muscovy ducks (I think this one is a female, hence the relative lack of a "mask"):

  4. I came across one of these species at the duck pond recently, it had suddenly appeared and seems to be together with the other muscovy that lives there. It was super gentle and ate from my hand
